New York is a huge state with incredible events of all kinds due to its much diversified countryside. There are four mountain ranges in New York State: Adirondack, Catskill, Shawangunk and Taconic.Oneida Lake is the largest lake completely within the State. Other prominent lakes are the Finger Lakes, Otsego Lake, Lake George, Lake Placid and Lake Champlain.

Lake Erie borders  New York State with a surface area of 5,002 square miles. Lake Ontario forms the northern boundary of New York State with an area of 3,033 square miles. At the site of Niagara Falls, the Niagara River spills 40 million gallons of water 180 feet downward each minute. New York is a world capital with headquarters of the United Nations in New York City.

New York offers so many choices for activities both out in mountains or streams, lakes and ocean, national parks and forests and lets not forget the Big Apple itself.  New York state is a great destination for any age. Some of the great places you could plan to visit that are not quite as obvious are:

The Adirondack Mountains of northeastern New York are home to the six-million-acre Adirondack Park, a patchwork of public and private lands protected under state law. Look for 1000 Acres Ranch Rodeo at Stoney Creek, the 14 annual Double H hole in the woods ranch Gala in August in Queensbury,  Octoberfest in Wilmington early in Oct. You must see the 14th Annual Fox Festival in Old Forge in early August, Olympic Museum and Hall of Fame in Lake Placid and most incredibly a Beautiful Balloon Festival in Lake George.

The New York State Canalway Trail System is comprised of a network of more than 240 miles of existing multi-use, recreational trails across upstate New York. Major segments are adjacent to the waterways of the New York State Canal System (see our map) or follow remnants of the historic original canals of the early 1800s that preceded today's working Canal System

Saratoga is a beautiful destination offering quite famous for racing thoroughbreds at the Alabama States in August.  The Agnes Macdonald Music Haven Stage in Schenectady is a gorgeous amphitheater offering performances spring to fall.

In Hadley you will find yourself golfing along the Hudson River at the Bend of the River golf course .  Its sounds so relaxing.  In September you could be in the Catskills at the 40 annual lumberjack festival in Andes.  Attend the Annual German arts Festival in in Purling  in early July.

In the Finger lakes you have to attend the 2005 M & T Jazz Fest in Syracuse.

Of course we begin our destinations in none other than New York City. You can always search for hotels throughout New York using the search box to your left or use the advanced search for hotels throughout the world or to refine your search by amenities offered. Enjoy your trip.
